INDEPENDENT DESIGNER 2021

Yingjie is a Helsinki-based furniture designer and interior architect. Sheowns a master’s degree in furniture and spatial design from AaltoUniversity, School of Art, Design and Architecture. Yingjie ́s works variesfrom furniture to product design and material exploration.

From a south-China industrial city to a forest-surrounded Nordic capital,Yingjie ́s international study background brings her sensitive andinclusive view and enriches her inspiration from multi-dimensions.
She enjoys observing and reconstructing the interaction between the external world and human perception. Design as an approach, can externalize and materialize this abstract relationship. She also admires the playful and elegant aesthetics as well as the inner logic of structure and material. As a designer, she believes good design evoke people ́se motion and curiosity, this is also the goal of her design.

POPPY CHAIR

Poppy chair is a collection of dining chair design. The form is inspired by the painting elements of Joan Miró. Plywood and steel form free surfaces and lines in space. A group of chairs generate a spatial collage when randomly placed together.

SADDLE

Saddle is a playful rocking stool made from linoleum and plywood. The simplest bending shape and bright colors brings vivid atmosphere to a space. Saddle has two heights for adults and children.

MIRROR LAMÉ

Mirror Lamé is transformed from Superellipse (Lamé curve) which owns a perfect balance between rectangle and circle. The section size is designed for holding in one hand. It can be hanged on the wall or stand on table by inserting a metal support.

PUU-LINO

Puu-lino is a mixed material explored by Yingjie. Recycled thin wood or bamboo strips combines with linoleum to reach a good balance between nature and artificial material.
